What you'll need 

32 strands of 18-25.4 cm (7-10") yarn ( If it's longer it will be easier to loop)
8.5 cm (3.34") long, 1 cm (0.39") wide cardboard
Scissors
Tape

Roll cardboard and tape. Loop your yarn around the cardboard but leave 1 strand to the side. You will use this to tie the top. Once your done and you've fastened the top, trim the excess to create a pom pom.


This pin is great for using up scrap yarn and makes for good winter decoration.

What you'll need

50 g DK (Light Worsted Weight) Yarn
3.75 mm Needles

Make 2

Cast on 24 sts

Rows 1-14 K2, P2

Knit until your mitten is 5"/13 cm

Row 1 *K4 K2tog. Repeat from* to end of row
Row 2 Purl all
Row 3 *K3, K2tog. Repeat from* to end of row
Row 4 Purl all
Row 5 *K2, K2tog. Repeat from* to end of row
Row 6 *P1,P2tog. Repeat from* to end of row
Row 7 *K2tog. Repeat from* to end of row

Cut yarn leaving a long tail, attach sewing needle and weave through last stitches to fasten shut. Turn your mitten inside out and sew up the seam. Weave in all loose ends.

4 or 5 3.75 mm DPNs ( I would recommend using 4 needles as it gets more fiddly with 5)

Make 2

Cast on 24 sts

Rows 1-14 K2, P2 around

Knit until your mitten is 5"/13 cm

Row 1 *K4 K2tog. Repeat from* to end of row
Row 2 Knit all
Row 3 *K3, K2tog. Repeat from* to end of row
Row 4 Knit all
Row 5 *K2, K2tog. Repeat from* to end of row
Row 6 *K1,K2tog. Repeat from* to end of row
Row 7 *K2tog. Repeat from* to end of row

Cut yarn, weave through last stitches and fasten off.

Rows 6 - 13 Stockinette Stitch ( If you want your hat to be taller make sure your last row will be Purl all)

Row 16 *K5, K2tog. Rep from* to end of row.

Row 18 *K4, K2tog. Rep from* to end of row.
