What you'll need
3.75mm Needles
50g DK ( Light Worsted Weight) Yarn
Sewing Needle
Cast on 4 sts
Rows 1 and 2 kfb all around (16)
Row 3 Purl all
Row 4 *K1, kfb. Repeat from* to the end of row (24)
Row 5 Purl all
Row 6 *K2, kfb. Repeat from* to the end of row(32)
Row 7 Purl all
Row 8 *K3, kfb. Repeat from* to the end of row(40)
Row 9 Purl all
Row 10*K4, kfb. Repeat from* to the end of row(48)
Row 11 Purl all
Row 12 *K5, kfb. Repeat from* to the end of row(56)
Rows 13-20 Stockinette stitch
Rows 21-25 K2, P2
Cast off all sts in rib, Leave a tail long enough to sew the hat and cut. Fold the hat with the WS facing and sew the edge Fasten off and weave in your ends.

I think you would just increase the same way she was doing eg: *K6, kfb. Repeat from * then purl the next row until you get it a bit smaller than the circumference of the head, then do the stockinette stitch for a while, then finish it with the rib stitch for the brim. At least that's how it seems like it would work. I will try making it bigger with this method.
