  1. Will it give the same diamond design as that of toddlers sweater

  2. This sweater doesn't have the diamond effect, it's just plain knit. I have a blog post and a seperate video on how to do the diamond brocade. The pattern is worked over 12 sts so you can have it just in the centre of the sweater and repeat it 3 times across and then stop at the neck/armholes before you split each side. So the first row would be K15, diamond brocade patt over 36 sts, K15.The second row would be P15, diamond brocade over 36 sts, P15. So on and so forth.

If you want me to write the full pattern I will have to do it later tonight as I'm a little busy right now. I need to double check the pattern before writting it out.

  3. Thank u so much. I tried to work it out by copying ur toddler 73cast on sweater. Just first few rows I will type here. May be this will work out
    Pls let me know

    Row1 K9 *P1 K9 P1 K1, rep from *3 more. time , K9
    Row2 P8 K1 *P1 K1 P7 K1 P1 K1 *3 more times, P9

Same pattern as that of big sweater for 12 rows just K9 or P9 on either ends with 48 stitches of diamond brocade in between.
3 more times actually means totally 4 times right ?

  5. Yes that will work perfectly! I would recommend stopping just before or right up to the neck/armhole shaping so that the pattern doesn't get confusing when you start to decrease stitches.

  6. Hi.. Totally struck with arm hole shaping from front. I did the plain version not diamond brocade. But that neck division I really am not able to understand :(. Is there a video for arm decreasing for front side. Back was so easy. Now my front measures 14cm. After this I should go on decreasing. But why this neck divide and leaving on stitch holder. U have not done for 2 yr toddler sweater. Thought of following from that but u have just decreased there :(. Please help dear. Just ten days I am due. I am excited to finish before baby arrives.

  7. And arm hole shaping what is the meaning of Left side, neck divide, stitch holder. U haven't used any of these terms on arm hole shaping of toddler big sweater:(

  8. Unable to understand this part.. Left side means left of the baby or left of me?
    Armholes And Neck

    Left Side

Neck divide K2tog, K30. Turn and leave remaining 34 sts on a stitch holder.
You will be working over 31 sts as follows

  9. Sorry to bother u soo much.. I think I understood.. Its just dividing the neck into half. But now left side means my baby's left in my sweater. And also if u give me ur email or whatsapp number I shall share my sweater pic and u can tell me if I am going right.

    1. I'm so sorry your having difficulties with the pattern. I have recorded it I just need to edit it and don't worry about bothering me I'm here to help.

I'll try to simplify it for you as much as possible

Left Side (this is the baby's left shoulder and arm side)

Neck divide(neck divide means you will now divide the front of the sweater in 2 so you can start the neck shaping in this case the V-neck shape) with the RS facing (knit side) you will K2tog, K30. Turn and leave remaining 34 sts on a stitch holder( a stitch holder is like a giant nappy pin, you can use scrap yarn if you don't have a stitch holder but what you're going to do is with the 34 stitches you haven't knitted over yet you will need to place them on a holder so that they don't fall)
You will be working over 31 sts as follows. ( these are the stitches you just worked over k2tog, k30=31sts) follow the rest of the pattern over the 31 sts only. You will reattach the yarn for the right side later.

Row 1 Purl to the last 2 sts, P2tog (30)
      Row 2 K2tog, knit to the last 2 sts, K2tog (28)
Row 3 Purl to the last 2 sts, P2tog (27)
      Row 4 K2tog, Knit to the last 2 sts, K2tog (25)
      Row 5 Purl all
Row 6 Knit to the last 2 sts, K2tog (24)
      Row 7 Purl all
Row 8 Knit to the last 2 sts, K2tog (23)
      Row 9 Purl all
Row 10 Knit to the last 2 sts, K2tog (22)
      Row 11 Purl all
Row 12 Knit to the last 2 sts, K2tog (21)
      Row 13 Purl all
Row 14 Knit to the last 2 sts, K2tog (20)
      Row 15 Purl all
Row 16 Knit to the last 2 sts, K2tog (19)
      Row 17 Purl all
Row 18 Knit to the last 2 sts, K2tog (18)
      Row 19 Purl all
      Row 20 Knit all
      Row 21 Purl all
      Row 22 Knit to last 2 sts, K2tog (17)
      Row 23 Purl all

      Shoulder shaping

Row 1 Cast off 8 sts, knit to the end of the row.
      Row 2 Purl all
Row 3 Cast off the remaining 9 sts

  10. Thank you for replying.. I didn't know about a stitch holder. I just kept the remaining 34 sets on the knitting needle itself :( I didn't know . But they are sitting securely on my needle and am working with another pair on the left side 31 sets.

  11. That's fine also as long as the stitches are being held on something it doesn't really matter what you use.

  12. Finished left side.. Now should I cut the yarn and re join to do on right side.. Does rejoin mean cut and join.. Sorry such silly doubts

    1. Yes cut the yarn and join it to the right side of the sweater. When you start the Right side make sure the RS of the sweater is facing you (knit side).

    1. Pfb is purl front back. It's a stitch used for increase. You purl the stich like normal but don't slip it off, then you go through the same stitch agian through the back and purl again, now you should have 2 stitches from that first one.

If you know another way which is easier for you to increase you can use that also. You can knit front back if that's easier

    1. Hi,it means for the next 5 rows you'll be decreasing 1 stitch at the beginning and end of each row. This is exactly what's it means...

Row 1 k2tog, knit to the last 2 sts, k2tog
Row 2 P2tog, purl to the last 2 sts, p2tog
Row 3 k2tog, knit to the last 2 sts, k2tog
Row 4 P2tog, purl to the last 2 sts, p2tog
Row 5 k2tog, knit to the last 2 sts, k2tog

You're just repeating the same thing for each of the 5 rows.

    2. For rows 7-10 you cast off 5 sts at the beginning only of each row

Row 7 cast off 5 sts knitwise knit to end of row
Row 8 cast off 5 sts purlwise purl to end of row
Row 9 cast off 5 sts knitwise knit to end of row
Row 10 cast off 5 sts purlwise purl to end of row

Purlwise and knitwise is just purl or knit the stitches as you would normally then slipping them off as you would normally cast off stitches.
