What you'll need

5 3.75mm  DPNs
50g DK ( Light Worsted Weight) Yarn


Cast on 4 sts
Rows 1 and 2 kfb all around (16)
Row 3 Knit all
Row 4 *K1, kfb. Repeat from* around (24)
Row 5 Knit all
Row 6 *K2, kfb. Repeat from* around (32)
Row 7 Knit all
Row 8 *K3, kfb. Repeat from* around (40)
Row 9 Knit all
Row 10*K4, kfb. Repeat from* around (48)
Row 11 Knit all
Row 12 *K5, kfb. Repeat from* around (56)
Rows 13-20 Knit all
Row 21-25 K2, P2

If you don't want ear flaps you can cast off all sts in rib. Weave in the tail at the top of the hat to close the gap

Cast off 22 sts, rib 8 sts and slip onto spare yarn or needle, cast off 18 sts, rib 8

Ear Flaps

You will complete the following for both ear flaps, Start with WS facing

Rows 1-3 Follow rib pattern
Row 4 K2tog, rib to last 2 sts, ssk
Rows 5 Rib
Row 6 K2tog, rib to last 2 sts, ssk
Row 7 Rib

On the last row you can cast of all 4 sts or you can continue to complete an I Cord.

Row 8 K1, K2tog, K1 (3)

I Cord ( You need to start from row 2)

Row 1 K3, Do not turn
Row 2 Slip all sts to other end of your dp needle, K3

K3tog to Cast off
