3-6 months knitted dress - Long Sleeve Option Added


What you'll need

5 3.75 mm DPNs
3.5 mm Needles
4 mm Needles
50g White DK (Light Worsted Weight) Yarn (A)
100g Beige DK (Light Worsted Weight) Yarn (B)
Sewing Needle
4 mm Crochet Hook (optional)


THE BACK

Cast on 56 sts with 3.5 mm needles and yarn A

Row 1 (RS) Purl all
Row 2 *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.
Row 3 Purl all
Row 4 *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next stitch, Rep from* to end

Switch to 4 mm needles and yarn B

Stockinette stitch for 23 cm (8.5"). 54 rows

With the RS facing complete the following decreases. K10, SSK, K9, SSK, K10, K2tog, K9, K2tog, K10 (52)
Row 2 Purl all
Row 3(RS) Purl all (Starts first row of trinity st)

Complete trinity st 5 times in total

On the 6th repeat you will start decreasing for arm holes

Row 1 Cast off 4 sts, Purl all
Row 2 Cast of 4 sts, *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.
Row 3 Cast off 2 sts, Purl all
Row 4 Cast of 2 sts,*(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end. End with P2tog

Continue trinity stitch until the whole dress measures 16" ( 4 more repeats)

Cast off purl wise.


THE FRONT


Cast on 56 sts with 3.5 mm needles and yarn A

Row 1 (RS) Purl all
Row 2 *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.
Row 3 Purl all
Row 4 *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next stitch, Rep from* to end

Switch to 4 mm needles and yarn B

Stockinette stitch for 23 cm (8.5"). 54 rows

With the RS facing complete the following decreases. K10, SSK, K9, SSK, K10, K2tog, K9, K2tog, K10 (52)
Row 2 Purl all
Row 3(RS) Purl all (Starts first row of trinity st)

Complete trinity st 5 times in total

On the 6th repeat you will start decreasing for arm holes

NECK SHAPING

Purl all
Knit trinity St over 17 sts
Place remaining 24 sts on LH needle on a St holder or spare yarn.

Turn your work around you should be working on the right side of the dress.

Row 1 Purl all
Row 2 *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next stitch, Rep from* to end. You should end with P3tog
Row 3 Purl all
Row 4 *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.
Row 5 Cast off 2 sts Purl to end (15)
Row 6 *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next stitch, Rep from* to end. You should end with P3tog
Row 7 Cast off 2 sts Purl to end
Row 8 *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end. You should end with P1
Row 9 Cast off 2 sts, Purl to end
Row 10 *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next stitch, Rep from* to end. You should end with P2tog

Cast off all sts purl wise.

Left side

With the RS facing slip all stitches from the holder onto your needle

Row 1 Reattach yarn, P7, *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.
Row 2 P19, K7
Row 3 P7, *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next stitch, Rep from* to end
Row 4 P19, K7
Row 5 P7, *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.
Row 6 P19, K7
Row 7 Cast off 7 sts, slip st from RH needle to left *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next stitch, Rep from* to end
Row 8 Purl all
Row 9 Cast off 2 sts,  slip st from RH needle to left and P2tog, *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end. (16)
Row 10 Purl all
Row 11 Cast off 2 sts, slip st from RH needle to left and P2tog, *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end. (13)
Row 12 Purl all
Row 13 Cast off 2 sts, slip st from RH needle to left and P2tog, *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.  (12)
Row 14 Purl all
Row 15 Cast of 2 sts, slip st from RH needle to left and P2tog, *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.

Cast off all stitches

Place the front and the back of the dress with the RS's touching. Sew the shoulders and sides.

SLEEVES (-If you want long sleeves scroll to the bottom for the pattern)

With yarn A, 4 3.75 mm DPNs, pick up and cast on 40 sts (9, 11, 9, 11)

Row 1 Purl all
Row 2 *(P1, K1, P1), K3tog. Repeat from* to end of row
Row 3 Purl all
Row 4 *K3tog, (P1, K1, P1). Repeat from* to end of row

Cast off


POCKETS

With yarn B and 4 mm needles Cast on 20 sts

Row 1 (RS) Purl all
Row 2 *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.
Row 3 Purl all
Row 4 *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next stitch, Rep from* to end

Repeat row 1-4 2 more times

Change to yarn A, complete rows 1-4 one last time

Cast off

BUTTON HOOK

There's 2 ways you can create the hook for the button.

Option 1 -Crochet

With a 4 mm crochet hook, attach yarn to the top edge on the right side of the dress and chain 10, slip st a few rows down. refer to pictures below







Option 2 - Knitted

With 3.5 mm or 3.75 mm needles pick up 1 st at the top edge of the dress on the right side and cast on 10.
Cast off all 10 stitches.

Sew the end of the loop a few rows down. It should look like the crocheted version. (Picture reference above)

Cast on 37 sts with yarn A and 3.25 mm needles 

Complete the trinity stitch once

Row 1 (RS) Purl all
Row 2 *(K1, P1, K1) into first stitch, P3tog, Rep from* to end.
Row 3 Purl all
Row 4 *P3tog, (K1, P1, K1) into the next stitch, Rep from* to end

Change to 4 mm needles and switch to yarn B

Rows 1-26 Stockinette stitch
Row 27 Kfb, Knit to the last st, Kfb (39)
Rows 28-40 Stockinette stitch
Row 41 Kfb, Knit to the last st, Kfb (41)
Row 42 Purl all


Shaping the top of the sleeve

Row 1 Cast off 4 sts, Knit to the end of the row (37)
Row 2 Cast off 4 sts, Purl to the end of the row (33)
Row 3 Cast off 2 sts, Knit to the end of the row (31)
Row 4 Cast off 2 sts, Purl to the end of the row (29)
Row 5 Cast off 5 sts, Knit to the end of the row (24)
Row 6 Cast off 5 sts, Purl to the end of the row (19)
Row 7 Cast off 5 sts, Knit to the end of the row (14)
Row 8 Cast off 5 sts, Purl to the end of the row (9)
Cast off remaining 9 sts

With the RS of both back and front pieces facing each other sew the shoulder seams. Fold the sleeve inside out and sew to the dress. Sew the the sleeve and the side of the dress seams

As it is, it is shorter than the other half and also does not reach the height of the back shoulder. Thank you, Magdalena Guerra (from Spain)
